Nevertheless, studying the factors affecting the adoption of e-payment systems in higher educational institutions is a new research trend. Thus, this study is considered one of the few that attempts to investigate the factors affecting the e-payment systems adoption in six different universities in the United Arab of Emirates (UAE). A total number of 289 students took part in the study. This study proposed a new research model in which the students’ intention to use the e-payment systems are affected by five different factors including perceived benefit, performance expectancy, perceived risk, perceived security/privacy, and trust. The partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) approach was used to validate the research model. The empirical results suggested that perceived benefit and performance expectancy have a significant positive relationship with the students’ intention to use e-payment systems, whereas perceived security/privacy and perceived risk exhibited a significant negative relationship. However, the results triggered out that trust has an insignificant relationship with the students’ intention to use e-payment systems. The results acquired from this research provide a fresh and an up-to-date information on the e-payment systems adoption in the higher educational institutions. The objective is to test the broadcast mechanism from different angles and track regression errors as well as specify and diagnose bugs with the help of executable specifications. A smart city based on the concept of fog-computing with flexible hierarchy is proposed in this paper. The aim of the proposed design is to overcome the limitations of the previous approaches, which depends on using various network architectures, such as cloud-computing, autonomic network architecture and ubiquitous network architecture. Accordingly, the proposed approach achieves a reduction of the latency of data processing and transmission with enabled real-time applications, distribute the processing tasks over edge devices in order to reduce the cost of data processing and allow collaborative data exchange among the applications of the smart city. The design is made up of five major layers, which can be increased or merged according to the amount of data processing and transmission in each application. The involved layers are connection layer, real-time processing layer, neighborhood linking layer, main-processing layer, data server layer. A case study of a novel smart public car parking, traveling and direction advisor is implemented using IFogSim and the results showed that reduce the delay of real-time application significantly, reduce the cost and network usage compared to the cloud-computing paradigm. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation inference statistics to identify the relationship between the two variables. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes, towards the gadget usage among students and their socio-emotion’s development. The findings of this study indicate that the students' knowledge and attitude towards the gadgets have a relationship with the students' socio-emotions. Therefore, this study is important in providing information especially to the schools, parents and students in order to figure out the appropriate alternative on using the gadgets more effectively.
